Well…technically 30 weeks and 6 days but whatever. Short and sweet again. I passed the Gestational Diabetes test with flying colors. The doc said I wasn’t even close to the limit they use for additional testing! We heard the heartbeat right away and go back in another two weeks. I’m measuring right on for size and I haven’t gained any weight in the last month! My total weight gain so far is about 25 pounds. My blood pressure has always been on the low side and for the last few appointments it’s been in the 98/52 area. I don’t think it is usually this low and I don’t remember it being quite this low with Lily. I need to remember to talk with the doctor about this at our next appointment to see if there are any concerns about the low BP and delivery. You may recall that my BP dropped to about 80/40 shortly after Lily was born. However, I think that was due at least in part to the epidural. Since I’m not getting an epidural this time I’m hoping I won’t have this problem again.
I cannot believe my little girl is 2 years old today! I don’t consider myself to be an especially emotional person but I’ve teared up a few times in the past couple of days when I think about how quickly she’s growing up. Last night she was finally going to bed at 10:00 after her birthday party and she was telling me about her party and presents and cake and was obviously still excited. She said something about Mommy and Daddy and Baby Brother and then moved her hand down and rubbed my belly for a couple of minutes. Great…I’m welling up right now just thinking about it! It’s amazing to think about how much she’s changed in the past year. Even more amazing is to think that just two years ago she was a tiny little newborn! Despite the challenges of toddlerhood it’s really quite a blast to be around Lily these days! She’s funny and silly and sweet all at the same time. We had a nice birthday party with friends and family yesterday. The weather was perfect and I think everyone had a nice time. I know Lily did! She was so involved in the party this year and loved opening presents! In fact, she keeps asking for more presents today…we may have created a monster!
We thought we had decided on a name…but we’ve been second guessing that choice for awhile now. I’m having a hard time coming up with something that I really, REALLY love and feel comfortable with. We don’t want anything too trendy or popular but we also don’t want some wacky off the wall name either. I find myself looking at and evaluating names in all kinds of situations from the credits on a movie to lists at work. There are just not a lot of boy names that are screaming “Pick me!! I’m perfect”! At this point I think we have a list of three names we both like. It’s very possible that Baby Boy will receive his name after we meet him in a couple of months!

Pretty routine appointment! I did the Glucose tolerance test this morning. It really wasn’t too bad. I don’t mind the flavor of the drink and it didn’t make me feel too sick or anything. I was a little worried that it would make me feel pretty sick since sugars and carbs have had a way of making me feel icky during this pregnancy. Luckily, my only real problem was that I felt a little burned out from the sugar crash for a little while. Not too bad though. I’m measuring right on schedule and we heard the heart beat right away! Also, my weight was down 1.5 pounds from my last visit which is just fine since I had a pretty big gain last time. We go back again in 2 more weeks.
