I don’t really want to whine too much but since this Blog is supposed to be a journal of the pregnancy, both the good and not so good parts, here goes! I can’t get comfortable at night!!! It’s recommended that pregnant women sleep on their sides rather than their backs (blood flow and digestive issues). I’ve tried several combinations of pillows but nothing has seemed to work yet. I toss and turn all night with aching hips and legs. I just ordered a massive body pillow on-line. It gets great reviews from pregnant women. It should arrive tomorrow. Hopefully this will give me some relief!

Today marks the half way point of the pregnancy. 20 weeks down… 20 weeks to go. I can’t believe how quickly it’s gone. We’ve added some new belly pictures to celebrate this milestone!
Tomorrow we go for the ‘BIG’ ultrasound. We are going to find out if it is a girl or a boy, assuming we can get a little cooperation. People seem surprised when we tell them that we don’t have a preference. I can understand wanting a boy after you have 3 girls, but for the first one I will be thrilled with ten fingers and ten toes. Melissa hasn’t had a definite feeling one way or the other. She had dreams about a little boy for a while, and has had girl dreams too. I haven’t been able to pick anything up either way, but I think I got a sign a couple of weeks ago. We ordered Chinese food and the fortune I got in my cookie was the standard “Opportunity will soon knock. When it does, answer the door!” type. This fortune had a bonus feature. On the back was a Chinese word for me to learn. My word: DAUGHTER…
Check back tomorrow to see if Confucius or the Keebler Elves or whoever was right!!!
The baby seems to be pretty active today! I’ve been feeling him/her for a lot of the morning. I can’t believe that in a little over a week we’ll know whether it’s a him or a her!
Well… we’ve started the daunting task of trying to find day care for the little one. It’s a little strange to think that we need to do this already! We’re not expecting to need anything until January 2006 but every place has a pretty long waiting list. We’ve visited two centers already. Both seem pretty nice but we’re still looking. We’d like to visit several places so we can make the best decision. I know people take their children to day care every day, but it’s a little scary to think of leaving OUR baby in the care of others! Jason and I both went to babysitters and we turned out just fine! I’m sure we’ll find a place we feel comfortable with.
